Tips You Must Remember to Do Foundation Like a Pro – Part 1

While it’s true that you don’t have a team of beauty experts available for our service 24/7, knowing a few tips and tricks can surely help us apply foundation as flawless as your favorite celebs. Perfect foundation is the base of your stunning looking appearance. We have asked some of the top makeup artists in the nation and have come up with a list of some of their best secrets to create your makeup foundation absolutely perfect. Let’s read on.

You need to prep up your face

If you want a celeb-like finish, it is extremely important to prepare your face before you apply foundation. Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry with a soft and clean towel. Next, apply a dollop of moisturizer and ta-da!

If you have brown skin, you can alternatively use an orange colored CC (color corrector) cream before you wear foundation. For the more natural-looking finish, many makeup artists also advise their client to use highlighter prior to applying foundation. This will help you maintain the glow throughout the day.

Choose the right shade

Sounds obvious, right? But many of you still end up choosing a wrong shade for their skin, which makes their face look cakey. Test different shades of foundation on your jawline, instead of trying them on your wrist or neck. And make sure you perform color testing amidst adequate daylight. If the color you choose totally blends into your skin leaving no sign of it behind, that’s the right shade.

Additionally, you should also consider your undertone while choosing foundation color. Check if your wrist veins look greenish, you have a yellow undertone and thus you should choose a pink based shade. And if your veins seem blue in color, you should opt for a yellowish shade for your foundation for the best match. Your skin tone also slightly changes in every new season and thus you need to change the shade of your foundation accordingly.

Use the right tools

If you want even and unblemished finish like done by makeup artists, you will need to apply foundation their way. So, you will need to use a best quality foundation brush for the job. With a brush, you will be able to cover up entire face and neck area with less amount of product.

Makeup brushes aren’t the only tool to apply foundation. You have also got blending sponges. If you have acne prone skin, using a sponge is more recommended. Make sure you don’t use too much product. Just remember, it is better to add more amount of product later than to remove the excessive amount.

These tips get finished here, and we have not even made a mention of how to know your texture, where to apply & techniques and much more – but that can follow in the next series of How to Apply Foundation like a Makeup Artist!
