Places You Must Visit in The USA and Add To Your Bucket List

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a must see. This canyon is a real eye opener when you see it for the first time. The climate that surrounds it is very good. If you visit the canyon in the early spring, you will be able to experience a winter climate and a desert climate. The Grand Canyon will give you the cold of winter and yet the warm dry climate of the desert. Of course this will require some physical activity. You will have to go for a hike down one of the many canyon trails to experience the desert climate. But the trek will be worth it. The best trek is the climb to plateau point. I have done this. Reaching this point will get you about twothirds to the Colorado River. When you get there you will be in a warm desert climate.

White Sands National Monument

This is a very beautiful place to visit. When you arrive you will be greeted by pure white sand dunes. Some of these sand dunes are as high as three-story buildings. They seem to go on for miles. When the sand dunes end there is desert pavement. This is where some of the space shuttles have landed. This is where the White Sands Space Harbor is located

The town of Alamogordo is located near by. This town has a population of over 30,000 according to recent estimates. It is located in the Tularosa basin of the Chihuahuan Desert. Alamogordo and is known for it association with Trinity Test Site. The Trinity Test Site is where the first nuclear bomb was exploded. This was a fission bomb. These types of bombs were once dropped on Japan.

The airforce base, which handles the space shuttle landings, is the Holloman Air Force Base. The White Sands National Monument is next to the San Andres Mountains, which are located to the west. The Sacramento Mountains are located to the east.

Serria Nevadas and The General Sherman Tree

The Serria Nevadas are a chain of mountains that exist in central California. These mountains contain the highest mountain in the lower 48 stares. This peak is listed at 14,505 in height and is called Mount Whitney. This is an excellent climb, but will take two days.

These mountains also feature the largest tree on Earth. This would be the General Sherman Tree. This is considered to be the biggest giant sequoia in the grove. This tree is 274 feet tall, and its circumference near the ground, is over 100 feet.

If you want to visit these sites you will need a good map and knowledge of the area. This is especially so if you want go hiking in the area. Check the internet for information to find what you will need to make your road trip a successful one.
